Nikos studied Chemical Engineering in Thessaloniki before continuing with Oenology at the Institut d’Oenologie in Bordeaux, where he discovered winemaking’s complexity and beauty. Returning to Greece in 2006, he was driven by passion and curiosity to explore every aspect of the craft.

Founding Oenops Wines in Drama was realizing his dream — to showcase indigenous Greek varieties from diverse terroirs, working with growers who share his values of authenticity and sustainability. The winery’s mission is to craft elegant, genuine wines that reflect Greece’s character and share them directly with people who appreciate them.

The master class is dedicated to the history, potential, character, and style of local grape varieties from neighboring Greece. Together with Nikos, we will taste and explore Xinomavro, Malagouzia, Vidiano, Assyrtiko, and other authentic Greek varieties, including a special surprise among them. Sampling wines from different producers and terroirs, presented by Nikos Karatzas, will take us to Greece and its modern and sustainable winemaking art.
